While everyone was getting ready for the long holiday weekend, doing some last minute shopping in town on the eve of Christmas, we were out getting shots of this black stallion.
The Ferrari hails from Italy and that’s pure general knowledge. But why the interference of Novitec by the Germans? It’s a question of why would you want to meddle with this near perfect machine?
Any bloke able to afford a Ferrari, let alone a Novitec Rosso F430 cruising down the driveway would able to break necks at the entrance queue to a disco. The choice to fine tune this beauty just puts you a level above the rest of the usual prancing horse club.
On the outside, body kit refinements are wind tunnel developed, consisting of a front splitter, skirtings at the rear side sills, a rear diffuser to enhance the ground effects of the factory flat bottom and central venturi and the rear wing, all painted black over carbon fibre to make purposeful styling subtle.
This F430’s suspension is lowered by 25mm with Novitec’s complete new suspension kit. This coilovers has race-style separate fluid reservoirs, stainless steel damper housings and adjustable for ride height, damping and rebound with electronic feedback while complemented with a larger diameter anti-roll bar.
The Novitec Rosso F430 rolls on staggered sized 19″x9.0J and 20″x12.5J wheels chosen with the conventional 5 studs over the centre locking rims as they are not popular in Singapore. They are wrapped with 255/30 and 345/25 Pirellis P Zero Rosso tires.
Power is nothing without control, and braking enhancements are visible through the five spoke wheels. This brake upgrade by Brembo consists of huge 380mm ceramic discs for each wheel, with eight-pot calipers in front and four-pots at the rear.
Novitec’s interior treatment matches a performance car’s orientation, with lightweight carbon fibre sport seats trimmed in leather and Alcantara and a sport steering wheel all trimmed with carbon fibre bling.
In the engine compartment, flow optimized air boxes receive air from free flow intakes, all finished off in carbon fibre, including the side trimmings.
The ECU is remapped to advance ignition timing, increase fuelling and the rev limit is increased to nearly 8,900rpm.
This F430 is like a large go-kart on the roads. With a lower ride height, larger anti-roll bars and wider rubber gives an even more race car-like feel to the car in sharp turns, with even less roll, while the bucket seats tucks your butt comfortably. The response is sharp and the engine free revving. Its easy steering is excellent under any circumstance and balance is unaffected by anything.
The bigger lungs on the intake system enhances the V8 orchestra playing tunes just behind your head as the motor spools up through the gears. Past the 4,000-rpm mark, this high-revving motor quickly moves its voice up a few octaves as you put pedal to the metal. Seated in the bucket seat, you feel like you’re in a muted Formula 1 car, as it approaches its crescendo in each gear.
After using the F430 to its maximum potential, the braking is simply breathtaking. The exotic would stop on a dime and dig its wheels into the road if it had to with its excellent anti-lock braking system.
We ended the shoot shortly before the early evening, while the Novitec Rosso had some friends over for company, a perfect way to kick off Christmas.
