The name ASM by Autobacs may not be familiar to the common men, but with most JDM lovers, images of a fat sexy track orientated widebody S2000 will pop into mind. In my opinion it is one of the nicest kits for an S2000 available. Having followed the shop’s blog before my travel, they are also starting to move towards catering to the European market such as the Mini Cooper.
They are also one of the Largest pro-Recaro shops around stocking every imaginable seat you can possibly think of. From full white leather reclinable seats to massage chairs bearing the famed seat maker’s name.
No bare concrete flooring or simple tiles for the showroom, only parquet was used here. If you think this is fancy, wait till I show you the workshop area. Smack in the middle of your way once you enter the main door would be the ASL Garaiya, based on the Tommy Kaira ZZ (Gran Turismo 3). Those of you who follow the SuperGT series might have spotted the car leaving the ARTA pits.
I decided to take a couple of photos, not knowing when I will get to see another one soon. The minimalistic interior reminded me of a Lotus Exige.
I believe many of you will have come across the wall of Recaros floating around the internet . I was also searching for a set of Lime Green SPG that was a Japan only edition months back.
Sadly though, the older series SPGs were taken over by the newer more streamline designed, the RSG/TSG series.
I meant it when I said Pro-Recaro shop, didn’t I?
Cruising down the highway in a luxury car after work and in desperate need of a back massage? Just a button away. These are Recaro Massage chairs!
The shop is neatly divided into the Recaro side and the performance section where many parts are manufactured in house. Shiny new parts hanging off the wall include exhaust systems, suspensions, body panels and apparels.
The apparel section, I am still face-palming myself for not getting the pair of Asics driving shoes that is also a Japan only model. I didn’t even manage to find it in one of the many sports retailers when I headed over to Kyoto and Osaka. ::Slits wrists::
Toda race engine with it’s stacks nicely seated in a full carbon box.
The workshop houses its time attack vehicle and a work space for doing upgrades for its customers. Seemed like a restricted area and I was only allowed to take photos from the outside until one of the staff asked if I would be interested to go in and take some photos. Who would say No??
ASM’s time attack monster.
Damm, I like those fenders.
Like I said at the start, ASM also caters to the european market. A Mini Cooper Countryman in S trim getting it’s dose of JDM goodness.
It was time to head over to my next location just down the street, more like 20mins walk. ZZ
Stay tuned for more of my Japanese advantures!
