Tokyo Auto Salon Singapore : Banzai Attack!

Text by : Randy F, Photos by : Randy F

It has been a week since the inaugural Tokyo Auto Salon Singapore was held at the Marina Bay Sands Convention Center. The event attracted many car enthusiasts from around the region. Photos have been circulating around the internet and audiences that graced the event experienced first hand what the Japanese car tuning scene could offer. Let us now take a look at the highlights of this car show that had thousands flocking to the venue. It was 9am on the first day of the event, and the media was set and ready for a preview of the offerings, just before the gates opened to the public at 10am.

The first car that stood before me was one that was familiar, one that I came across during the Nayoga Exciting Car Showdown – the Re Amemiya Rx7. I believe there are enough photos around the net showcasing Amemiya san’s smooth flowing creation. A definite high of the show.

Tokyo Singapore Salon Singapore 2013

It was at a local motor show over a decade ago that I had my foremost encounter
with the Japanese car-tuning scene. The Kodak disposable cameras in their
trademark yellow casing were all the rage back than. I still recall vividly the flashes
from these devices going off brilliantly through out the venue, as their owners
endeavored to capture the JDM models and rides on film. To date, it is still one of
the finest motor shows ever held in Singapore in my books.

AW-1160x1805mm-for-upload Fast-forward to 2013 and we have Singapore’s principle media company MediaCorp, in cooperation with Muse Group, bringing Tokyo Auto Salon Singapore 2013 to the shores of our tiny nation-state. The inaugural Singapore show will be held at the Marina Bay Sands Expo® and Convention Centre from 12-14 April 2013.

The MPT Group brought back the drag race that was once part of Singapore’s motor racing history. As Singapore is land scarce, the race is actually being held within a parking lot, and the drag strip is only 180 metres long. There are actually many other viable venue alternatives like the Changi Exhibition Centre, F1 Pit Centre, or even closing half a section of a long straight public road.

This R35 Got That Right.

It’s been a while since we featured the three GT-Rs HERE on The Right Wrong. This blue GT-R, is the second amongst them to be highlighted. If you ask me, it can be rather hard to make a car that is almost perfect off the mill to be better. Well, for a multiple choice question, this has to be one of the answer.

Cruising along, the exhausts sing a song.

The owner has seen much of motor sports in his younger years, his previous cars are track worthy toys like his EG6 and his Evolution. But when Nissan released the GT-R, it got his hands itchy to get a fast machine again.

A, b, c, d, e, f, G, T, R. I know my alphabet.

Tommy Kaira R35 GT-R

Words by : Ray Ng, Photos by : Neo, DigDub & Jieyong

Tommy Kaira is famed for their engineering and appearance enhancements to what the automotive industry offers. Cars straight out of the manufacturer’s factory may seem boring and ordinary, and they are the ones that adds that extra spice in them to make driving more refined, and fun. Tommy Kaira calls themselves a Carrozzeria – one that specializes in coachwork, manufacturing bodies for automobiles and they are very good at it.

That emblem, is a mark of Japanese refinement, and perfection.

This site features many sports cars , and this Tommy Kaira kitted R35 GT-R is one perfect example of Japan’s particularly intensive and unique culture of innovative high-tech production.
