It was at a local motor show over a decade ago that I had my foremost encounter
with the Japanese car-tuning scene. The Kodak disposable cameras in their
trademark yellow casing were all the rage back than. I still recall vividly the flashes
from these devices going off brilliantly through out the venue, as their owners
endeavored to capture the JDM models and rides on film. To date, it is still one of
the finest motor shows ever held in Singapore in my books.
Fast-forward to 2013 and we have Singapore’s principle media company MediaCorp, in cooperation with Muse Group, bringing Tokyo Auto Salon Singapore 2013 to the shores of our tiny nation-state. The inaugural Singapore show will be held at the Marina Bay Sands Expo® and Convention Centre from 12-14 April 2013.

The MPT Group brought back the drag race that was once part of Singapore’s motor racing history. As Singapore is land scarce, the race is actually being held within a parking lot, and the drag strip is only 180 metres long. There are actually many other viable venue alternatives like the Changi Exhibition Centre, F1 Pit Centre, or even closing half a section of a long straight public road.

It was 7 day yesterday, held every year on the 7th of July (7 / 7 / 2012). A once a year celebration and gathering for RX7 owners. Every year I look forward to seeing coverage of 7 day meets from around the world, a gathering of one of the sexiest and most timeless designs ever produced in Mazda history. Feeling a little jealous that Singapore had no 7 day celebration, I called for an impromptu and very last minute miniature scale 7 day celebration.
Only… There were no 7s around at all. Just a 6, an 8, lots of 9s and one lonely 10.

We’ve put up teasers of this Civic Type R quite a some time back and have left you hanging for all this time. We’ve been a tease yes? In the midst of completing projects and studying for my upcoming exams, it took me a while to find the time to complete writing this feature. This is the final installment of Evolution features and we have saved the best for last. The Singapore motoring system does not allow for the preservation of old cars very well. This is one of those old cars that should be preserved because what you are looking at is Singapore’s last and only road registered Evo 6. There are certainly several look alike Evo 6s roaming the streets which have been converted from Evo 4s and Evo 5s., but none of them even come close to rivaling the aggression of this true and legitimate Evo 6 RS2.

Every time we have a new feature, I have difficulty thinking of quirky names that suits the car. This was the first time my job was made easy. If you have looked through our entire site and you’re local, you should have realized that despite the flourishing population of WRXs and STIs on our roads we have yet to have a featured one. TheRightWrong.net has been predominantly an Evolution and Honda ruled site and I have an excuse prepared to justify why!

Amongst the 7 members in our crew, there are 2 Evolution owners and the other 4 driving Hondas. Of course it is only natural that we have greater access to cars of similar make. Haven’t you heard, birds of a feather flock together?
Nevertheless, let me continue explaining how the name “STI Brawler” was derived. Evolution owners and Subaru owners have and will always have this long standing war of which is a better car. They are basically designed from same recipe by two separate car makers competing for who has a fancier name!
