Time flies. It has been over a month since the conclusion of the 2014 Tokyo Auto Salon. Owing to a mad work schedule, thrilling personal hobby and editing of a massive amount of photographs from this recent trip to Japan, this article came a wee bit later than expected. Nonetheless, I hope it still tickles your fancy!
After a short haul flight from Singapore, my plane touched down at Narita Airport. On a side note if any you decide to travel there, do book a flight that lands directly at Haneda Airport. It is unquestionably closer to the city center and you would not have to deal with the sheer horror of missing a connecting flight from Narita to Haneda! Fortunately for me, I flew in an entire day before the event opening. After sorting out my transit mishap, I still made it to the Tokyo Auto Salon Media Day in good time, attended the annual RWB New Year meet up at Roppongi Hills, and even went around to a handful of Japanese tuners.
For the first portion of this post, I have decided to showcase what the Japanese tuners have brought to the show and what may be fast catching on as the trends of 2014.

The group of us (together with AFTMKT, a local magazine) gathered in the morning of the first day of the show, filled our bellies with a mixture of onigiri and coffee headed to the Makuhari Messe, where the show will be held.

Changing of the media passes were a breeze and off we headed into the vast array of halls that were filled with cars of different genres. But for this post I have decided to show the Essence of the Japanese automotive tuning scene with what they are coming up with.

We headed to the Works Wheels to peek at what new products they have for us in the coming months. Stood in front of the booths were 3 black beauties of different styles, From Euro to JDM, as seen on this Audi S5.

The Toyota Crown Athletic was one car that was featured in many of the booths, sadly sunny Singapore only got the Crown SuperSalon. *INSERT YAWN HERE*

The Works Seekers CX was the wheel that caught my attention first, with the sizes ranging from 16" to 18", I believe it will be a hit with car owners of various scenes.

Wheels galore!

Liberty Walk was one of the talk of the show, with its cult like statues and amount of hype they have created online with the Ferrari 458s, Murcielagos and GTRs.
Putting aside all the supercars they have brought, seems like the main star for them was Kato san's personal Kenmeri.

Shot in a unique blue that seems pastel like from far but upon close inspection, flakes of glitter can be found.

Center of attraction.

Our facebook fans seems to have a liking for the white 458 they have created. :) Those ADV.1s in red sure stood out and contrasted from the pearl white of the cabriolet decked out in full LB Performance aero.

So do you prefer black or white?

One of two GTR's during that time that had full Aerokit which LB provides.

The other one.

Moving ahead to other tuners as we will be heading down to Nagoya for a Liberty Walk shop tour! Stay tuned!
We stopped by Endless to check out the what new innovations they have for us.

Some sexy sexy monoblocks would look good and stop great on any car! All that machined metal...

Decided to shoot some Rotaries just for Ben to get some inspiration for the RX7 he's building over in Aussie. :P RE-Amemiya brought out both they street tuned RX7...

And also that crazy time attack machine.

If you do realize, I will lessen the text and more photos for you guys. I am not much of a writer and the show is best served live. :D
From time attack machines we stopped by Shallen and wide bodied Nissan Cima have on show.

The over the top Tommy Kaira booth.

Major tire manufacturer Dunlop had a PanSpeed RX7 and newer of Evolutions on the stands.

From tires to wheels, we headed over to RAYS and what stood out was the carbon claded Overtake GTR which was one of the major show pieces of the event.

BulletProof Automotive also had they full aero FRS shipped in for the show sitting on some new RAYS ZE40.

We usually remember BenSopra and that crazy front swinging of a bonnet GTR, but they had their Z33 on the RAYS stands as well.

All that crazy aero makes we end this post on a high with Varis. That is one sexy menacing GTR with that front end.

Something local Evo 10 owners would consider?
Or some Subaru GRB owners? The never ending battle between the Evos and the Scoobies.
We are not done with the JDM tuners, we also have others focusing on the VIP and Euro scene!
Check back soon!
Cheers
